Abundant Life Focus Productivity

Why be more productive

So you might be wondering what productivity and time management has to do with finding your abundant life. Why be more productive? I learned early on in my adult life that these are necessary to finding your abundant life. I believe that if I’m efficient with the things I have to do that leaves more time for the things I want to do. And that opens up all the possibilities for the abundant life I’m searching for.

So through high school and into adulthood, I’ve learned to love time management and productivity. I love color-coding a new calendar or making a to-do list. I love looking at new methods and apps that can help me do better and spend time better. It’s a weird sick obsession that I blame school on because they gave us a new shiny planner at the beginning of every year that I loved filling in with stickers and highlighters and gel pens.

But that doesn’t mean I’m the best at following them.

Actually, before the internet and smartphones, I was really bad about referencing my paper planners before making more plans. I was notorious for double or triple booking myself. So let me just say, I don’t know how I could function in any world that the internet did not exist. I only mess up my calendar once a month rather than a daily basis these days (yes, today was the day I messed up my calendar.)

But still, this is one of my favorite places to improve and learn and help others. I love this. And if knowing productivity and time management helps you in your search for an abundant life, here are 3 more reasons you should care about improving your productivity:

1. It saves you one remembering everything

With the right productivity plans and systems, you have to remember less.

2. You don’t have to do as much.

When you’re productive, there is less for you to do, because you’ve created systems and processes that do your work for you or at least lessen the load.

3. You don’t wonder where all your time is going.

I hate looking back on a week, month, or year and wonder where all my time went. Being productive and managing your time well means you know and choose exactly how your time is being spent.

Convinced yet that you need productivity and time management in your life?

Well, if it’s not one of your favorites, let me know what you struggle with the most in the comments below. I’d love to make sure I talk about things that will specifically help you create the abundant life you’re searching for.

The thing I remind everyone I work with on productivity and time management is that there’s not a right or wrong way, there’s the way that works for you. So paper, electronic, or a mix of the two, it’s important you find the system that works for you and that’s how you’ll be most productive.

So step one to productivity is to pick your one place that everything will start. Where is the one place you will send all the information that needs to be organized? You need a digital and paper place. My work email is where everything in my life starts. Then it moves to my note space or to-do program, or wherever else the information might need to be stored. We’re still trying to agree on where the paper location in the house will be, my husband and I are still figuring out the organization as a unit rather than as individuals. So it’s always a process of what does and doesn’t work and then sticking to it when you decide.
