Top Ten Tuesday: Books to Inspire Movies

TOP

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted over at The Broke and The Bookish

Even though there is always a risk in a favorite book being turned to a movie, sometimes it’s worth it.  Movies are like the cliff notes version of books, if I don’t have time to reread a book, I can get a quick dose through the movie.  So here are some books (there is major cheating going on, but you can’t just pick the first book of a series) that I wish would get turned into movies.

Enchanted Forest Series

Dealing with Dragons (Enchanted Forest Chronicles, #1)Searching for Dragons (Enchanted Forest Chronicles, #2)Calling on Dragons (Enchanted Forest Chronicles, #3)Talking to Dragons (Enchanted Forest Chronicles, #4)

Dealing | Searching | Calling | Talking

If you’ve been reading here at all, you’ll know I love this series.  It was one of the first fantasy series I ever read.  I would love to see these become movies.

The Selection Series

The Selection (The Selection, #1)The Elite (The Selection, #2)The One (The Selection, #3)

Selection | Elite | One

Supposedly this is in the market to be made into a movie, but there’s nothing on IMDB right now, so we’ll see.  I’m just starting the Heir, so we’ll see if I think they should continue past the first three.

The Chronicles of Narnia (the rest of the series)

The Horse and His Boy (Chronicles of Narnia, #3)The Magician's Nephew (The Chronicles of Narnia, #1)The Last Battle (Chronicles of Narnia, #7)

The Horse and His Boy | The Magician’s Nephew | The Last Battle

All the Pevency books have been made into movies, for good or bad, but I love these three forgotten books in the series and would love to see good versions of them come out.

Looking Glass Wars

The Looking Glass Wars (The Looking Glass Wars, #1)Seeing Redd (The Looking Glass Wars, #2)ArchEnemy (The Looking Glass Wars, #3)

Looking Glass War | Seeing Redd | Arch Enemy

This is a series I haven’t finished but I’m pretty sure I would love to see movies made. It’s a great reinvention of Alice in Wonderland.

The Paper Magician Trilogy

The Paper Magician (The Paper Magician Trilogy, #1)The Glass Magician (The Paper Magician Trilogy, #2)The Master Magician (The Paper Magician Trilogy, #3)

Paper | Glass | Master

I can’t wait to get my hands on book three.  I know I’m positive I’ll love the series, and think they would make great movies.

The Splintered Trilogy

Splintered (Splintered, #1)Unhinged (Splintered, #2)Ensnared (Splintered, #3)

Splintered | Unhinged | Ensnared

I think anyone that read these would agree they need to make movies.

Voyage of the Basset

Voyage of the Basset

This is such a fun book and the pictures are so rich.  I would just be worried they couldn’t do justice to the world, although If they made the disc world books into movies, I think this one would stand a pretty good chance.

The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel Series

The Alchemyst (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #1)The Magician (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #2)The Sorceress (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #3)

Alchemyst | Magician | Sorceress

The Necromancer (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #4)The Warlock (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #5)The Enchantress (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #6)

Necromancer | Warlock | Entrantess

Again, haven’t finished this series, but I’m pretty confident they would make a good movie.

The Testing Trilogy

The Testing (The Testing, #1)Independent Study (The Testing, #2)Graduation Day (The Testing, #3)

Testing | Independent Study | Graduation Day

This series is fairly compared to Hunger Games, but it’s also way different, which makes me want to see it as a movie series.

Anything by Tamora Pierce

Wild Magic (Immortals, #1)

Wild Magic

This is the first book I’ve read by Tamora Pierce, and I’ve read a good majority of her books and love them all.  I would love to see some (or all) of them to become movies.
