Top Ten Tuesday: Books from my childhood

Top Ten Tuesday: This is a meme hosted over at The Broke and The Bookish

This week is all about books from my childhood that I want to revisit.  There are only 8, but a couple series so I figure that makes up for the missing 2.

Any Nancy Drew Book by Carolyn Keene

I love Nancy Drew.  Someday I’ll read all the originals.

The Secret of the Old Clock (Nancy Drew, #1)

The Voyage of the Basset by James C. Christensen

Love this book and the pictures.

Voyage of the Basset

The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein

This is the first book I ever “read.”  And by that I mean my parents read it to me so many times I had it memorized.

The Giving Tree

The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman

I loved the first two books of this series, then thought the third one spoiled it. I would like to reread it to see what my adult brain thinks about it all.

The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, #1)

The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe C.S. Lewis

There is always room on my bookshelf for Lewis.  Always. (Did you see what I did there)

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (Chronicles of Narnia, #1)

The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner

Seriously, I loved mysteries when I was a kid.  I’m not sure why I stopped reading them.  But I loved the Boxcar Children.  Every time I got a Scholastic order form I asked for whatever boxcar children books I could get.

The Boxcar Children (The Boxcar Children, #1)

The Seven Sleepers Series by Gilbert L. Morris

This was the first Post Apocalyptic series I ever read.  It was all about seven kids who got put in sleeper pods during the third world war that also turned the world nuclear.  They awake to find the world completely different than when they first went to sleep.  I only ever got to read the first book, but I’ve always wanted to find all of the books and read them.

Flight Of The Eagles (Seven Sleepers, #1)

The Cooper Kids by Frank E. Peretti

I had many late nights because of this kids series.  One time I had finished one at 3 in the morning, only to find my Mom enthralled by one of his books in the living room.  I remember loving the play on spiritual vs physical.

The Cooper Kids (The Cooper Kids Adventures, #1-4)
