Top Ten Tuesday: This is a meme hosted over at The Broke and The Bookish
So I’m not sure where my head was last week, but I spaced getting any of my blogs scheduled, even though they were finished. Anyways, since last weeks, was done, I’m giving you 10 Book related problems and 10 Favorite Heroines from books today
10 Book related problems
- Not enough bookshelf space– I have always had this problem, although right now I only have two book stacks going on.
- When the library/bookstore has every book in a series except the first one- This is the worst, followed by they have the first and last book but nothing in the middle of a series.
- When I can’t find a series with matching covers- I’m obsessive about matching covers if I like the series. Second place is only being able to find movie covers.
- When my eyes are too big for my calendar- Story of my life. I currently have 4 TBR shelves.
- When I buy a book in one format and decide I want it in hardback- This happens so much, I’ll really want to read a book and buy the first copy I find then realize after I read it, I want a hardback copy.
- When the movie version sucks and ruins the series- This really happened for me on City of Bones. I’m just now getting to the point where I want to read the rest of the series.
- When a series goes downhill and you have to decide whether to finish it- This has happened a couple times, the Divergent series being one of them. I loved the first book and the next two just went down hill for me. I finished that one, but there have been series that I didn’t go back to.
- Likewise when you hate everything about a book except one little piece and you have to decide to whether to suffer through to know the ending of the one thing.- This happened recently too. I was listening to a book and kind of started skipping parts here and there, because I didn’t care for any of the character development that was going on, I just wanted to know who the bad guy was and what he wanted.
- When no one you know has read the book you are having major feels over- All the time. I don’t have any bookish friends, other than my sisters, and we have almost opposite tastes in books. Fairy tale retellings are about as close as we get to agreeing, and even then she won’t read “Stitching Snow” because it’s sci-fi.
- When you have to choose between reading and chores (even when you’re 29)- I’m not a neat freak, which is good, because I feel like my time is better spent not cleaning. But even then, it has to be done. *sigh*
10 Favorite Heroines
- Hermione from Harry Potter- I mean, why wouldn’t she be on this list?
- Cimorene from The Enchanted forest- I love how intense she is and won’t live the life others expect of her.
- Sophie from Howl’s Moving Castle- She just takes what comes to her and tries to make the best out of it.
- Cia from The testing- I liked her because she stayed strong through the series, which is what I would hope to act like in her shoes
- Joann from The Hunger games Series- I love Katniss too, but Joann is all fire and spunk. I just always love seeing her in the book.
- Nancy Drew- I grew up reading these books. I still love to pick one up every now and then for a quick read. Always loved her curiosity
- Alyssa from Splintered- She’s got Spunk and cares for her loved ones.
- Lucy from The Chronicles of Narnia- Her innocence and faith, love those qualities in her
- Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice – Another character that doesn’t feel like she has to live the life expected of her
- Luce from The Lost Voices- She really gets thrown for a loop and tries to do her best, and even though it doesn’t always work out, she doesn’t give up.
