So my confession of the day is: I like stalking children’s pictures books. I unfortunately don’t have the money to buy all the ones that I think are awesome, but I like to keep up with them since I work with kids birth through 5th grade. So here are some books I recently found with the theme of colors. And if I had kids, I would totally want these.
Bear Sees Color by Karma Wilson
A bear goes for a walk and sees the colors in his world. The book goes through rhymes, animals, foods, and colors. Plus has great illustrations that will draw the kids in.

The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt Illustrated by Oliver Jeffers
This is a clever book, which always attracts me in kids books. It goes through the colors in a standard box of crayons who have written their complaints to the child that owns them. The clever part is the subtle pieces that adults will understand that kids might not. If you have kids that like to color, for sure get this book.

Mix it Up by Herve Tullet
I love all of Tullet’s kids book. They are so interactive for kids. In this book he has the kids tilt the book and mix things through the book that change what’s on the next page. Kids that like to paint would like this book

Press Here by Herve Tullet
Another Tullet book. This one follows it’s title, you press things. And it affects the dots and colors on the next page.

One by Kathryn Otoshi
This is a great book about standing up for yourself. It goes through the different colors, playing to what they tend to represent for us when we see them. Blue starts to wish he was a different color, but by the end stands up for himself being happy with who he is. It also has simple, yet beautiful art through the book.
