So this year, rather than make a couple of goals or set resolutions, I decided to try something new. I went through every list of habits, productivity, projects, to-dos, and anything else that has been a thought in my head, and made one master list. This list is probably bigger than one year’s worth of things and it will probably grow as the year goes on, but rather than have things in a million different places one place will remind me and help me make decisions on what is most important.
I organized it a little and made this plan: I pick one thing off the list, and that’s what I focus on till it’s done, then I move to the next thing. It doesn’t have to be in order, but I do have to work on one thing a day, and Habits I add one at a time, depending on how complex it is.
I have no idea if this will make me more productive or get me closer to a simpler abundant life, but I thought it couldn’t be worse than the failed attempts and chaos I’ve had in the past.
The last couple of years were different for our world as a whole, then my husband and I jumped headfirst into the world of parenting on top of it all. Even though I write here about finding the Abundant Life and haveing focus, productivity, and harmony, the last two years haven’t felt that way for me. Really this site is as much about me learning and teaching myself as it is helping others along the way.
I feel like this plan has much more clarity as a whole. Not to mention the first rule of productivity and organization is “do what works for you. ”
What I especially like about this, is rather than looking back at January and saying “I didn’t make my resolution happen” when December comes, I’ll have a list I’ll be able to look at and say “see everything I accomplished” which sounds more abundant life: more grace and less guilt.
So if you think you might want to try a master list this year instead of a resolution I made a master list starter for you. Just sign-up for my newsletter and you’ll get access to this and all my other freebies.
