Today I want to talk about the Enchanted Forest Series. I’ve read this series many times, and I think this is one of the series that really got me hooked on Fantasy book (the other being the Chronicles of Narnia). This series is such a great series that I think anyone that loves true fantasy books should look into. It’s a twisted fairytale, where none of the characters play traditional roles, but that’s what makes me love it so much more.
The main character, Cimorene, is a Princess that would rather learn magic and sword fighting than embroidery and dance. Her parents are distraught that she isn’t a “proper” princess. So Cimorene decides she will run away and be a Dragon’s princess. Again, this isn’t proper, because the dragon is supposed to kidnap the princess, but Cimorene hopes this will solve her problem of wanting more excitement and keep her parents from questioning her.
The story get’s more crazy from there and Cimorene meets the other princesses in the caves, some questionable wizards show up, and a prince that won’t take no for an answer. And that’s just the first book. There are flying carpets, giants, magic swords, and a long list of characters that you’ll fall in love with through the books, which will take maybe a week to read, as they are short and middle grade level.
Reading this review actually makes me want to take this series off the shelf again, it’s just so fantastic, especially if you like characters with a bit more spunk. Seriously, add this to your list.
